       Held average annual property tax increases below the average annual rate of inflation  « Delivered 4 tax decreases

       Consolidated services through inter-municipal cooperation, saving $1.1M/yr.

       Enhanced local services, gained efficiencies, and retained control of services

       Secured more than $1 million in grants during the past two years, and millions more since 1992

       Earned Moody’s high-level credit rating of Aa3 and restored Town reserve funds

       Updating the assessment roll for fairness and equity

       Implemented the Monroe Avenue Plan, decreasing vacancies, increasing residential character, and resolving issues with troubled motel properties

       Established Business Improvement District to save taxes and cut costs

       Spearheaded successful designation of I-490 as the “Erie Canal Expressway” within Monroe County

Open Space & Parkland

environment

       Created a town-wide park system for passive and active recreation with 12 parks and trails

       Added and developed hundreds of acres of Town parkland and green space: saved and expanded Corbett’s Glen, developed enlarged Meridian Centre Park with a $150,000 Federal grant; acquired and built Lehigh Valley Trail using $820,000 Federal grant, expanded Buckland Park on Westfall Rd. to 120 acres, added 75 acres of Crittenden Rd. parkland

       Secured $450,000 state and private funding to improve the canal trail

       Protected environmentally sensitive areas including wetlands and woodlands; preserved natural habitats « Recognized as “Tree City USA”

       Doubled recreation programs for pre-school to senior citizens

       Built critically needed playgrounds (7) and athletic fields (16) and a second town lodge

       Partnered with school district on new school/community pool and Asset Building Program for teens

 

       Renovated and doubled the size of the library for lifelong learning «  Supported nationally ranked schools with D.A.R.E., community task forces, and crime prevention education

 

 

 

 

       Addressed unique needs of neighborhoods – controlled development in flood plains, improved Penfield Road residential character, and created Neighborhood Improvement District to repair historic gateways in Home Acres

       Supported development of attractive single-family homes to complement the full range of living options; approved Barclay Square, Deerfield Woods, and affordable senior apartments

       Added new trees throughout Town and beautified 12 Corners Memorial Park to create a “town center”

       Renewed and beautified neighborhoods, upgraded roads and crossings, added residential style lighting

       Secured $300,000 Federal grant to assist income eligible homeowners with essential capital maintenance

Public Safety and Public Works

Meet public safety needs

 

 

 

Improve sidewalks, streets, sewers, and drainage

       Instituted Community Policing; strengthened fire and ambulance services; updating Emergency Response Plan; participating in county-wide response program for bird flu pandemic and bioterrorism

       Increased crime-fighting technology and added bicycle, motorcycle, and canine patrols

       Established Community Task Force Against Violence and implemented safety improvement plan

       Built 8.05 miles of sidewalks for pedestrian safety, repaired 92.2% of town roads and 19,887 feet of sewers, improved drainage systems, worked with neighbors to improve N. Landing Road, S. Winton & Elmwood Avenues     

       Added 28 new refuse districts, saving residents at least $150/year
